Dhola, a prince of Narwar, was betrothed in childhood to Maru, a princess of Pugal.
Separated and grown, Maru sends her love messages carried by songs. Dhola finally finds
his way to her, and the two ride together on a camel through the desert — a scene
immortalised in Rajasthani painting for centuries.
